Loch Hill Windfarm objections mount in Galloway

More than 50 objections have been lodged against plans for a new wind farm in Galloway.

2020 Renewables wants to build 11 turbines on a site which lies to the north east of St John’s Town of Dalry.

The list of opponents includes the council’s own landscape architect who states that the development would have an unacceptable visual impact.

However, local authority planning officials are recommending the project is approved subject to conditions.

Managing Director of 2020 Renewables Alan Baker said it welcomed that recommendation.

“If consented, it is projected that Loch Hill wind farm will require an investment of approximately £38m,” he said.

“We would hope to organise ‘meet the buyer’ events in Dumfries and Galloway so that we can meet directly with local businesses and let them know more about the project and how to get involved and tender for contracts.

“Our grid connection is secured and, if approved, we will be constructing the wind farm at the end of 2015.”
