No reason given yet for Antelope Ridge application withdrawal

The application for the Antelope Ridge wind farm has been withdrawn. No explanation for the withdrawal was included in a letter sent to the Department of Energy earlier this week, and Union County Commissioner Steve McClure says they haven’t received any details from the company yet: “We have not heard anything from them yet about what their intentions are, or whether they just intend to hold the lease for later use.”

The proposed 300 megawatt Antelope Ridge wind farm would have brought up to 164 towers to the Union area. Commissioner McClure said the county is still waiting to hear details: “We will probably be talking to them to find out what their long term plans are.”

The proposal drew heavy opposition from many area residents. EDP Renewable says they may restart the application process at a later date.
