University of Nottingham won’t appeal on wind turbine ruling

The University of Nottingham will not appeal after plans were rejected for two wind turbines near Clifton bridge.

The proposals were to build three 126-metre high turbines in Grove Farm, Lenton, with two turbines in the city and one just over the city boundary in Beeston.

Broxtowe Borough Council rejected the plans for the turbine in their patch in October and the university appealed.

A hearing into the appeal took place last week and the results will be known in the near future.

The plans for the two turbines in Lenton were unanimously turned down by Nottingham City Council’s planning committee in February after planners recommended refusal.

Nearly 500 people responded to a consultation on the plans, with 207 in support and 269 against, with the main concerns being noise, the view, and the impact on wildlife.
