Row over wind turbine is continuing

A local councillor is fighting a plan to site a 56-metre high wind turbine at Blackcastle Hill in the Innerwick area near Dunbar.

The Dunbar Community Energy Company has appealed to Scottish Ministers against East Lothian Council’s decision to refuse consent for the structure on Blackcastle Hill.

The 500kW wind turbine would be wholly community-owned, with all profits being disbursed through a community investment fund for the Dunbar and East Linton ward. It is estimated that around £4 million would be available for local projects over the 20-year life of the turbine.
