Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson questioned the Premier today about the Minister of Energy’s move to pay wind turbine companies not to produce wind energy.
Thompson says there are over 2000 megawatts of wind power online, with another 3700 planned.
Thompson wants to know why the Premier is moving ahead with plans for more wind turbines in unwilling communities when the power is unnecessary.
Thompson wonders how the Premier can justify more turbines, when it makes zero economic sense. She says it will only lead to increased energy rates that industry, families and seniors can’t afford. Thompson is calling for a moratorium on further wind development.
