Wind turbine hearing postponed again

Mass Audubon’s proposal for a 142-foot wind turbine on the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary will not be heard Thursday, Sept. 19, by the zoning board of appeal

Michael Ford, Audubon’s lawyer, has requested a continuance of the hearing for a special permit for another month. The date of the hearing has not yet been set, said Christine Bates, secretary for the zoning board, but she added that she expects the hearing will be postponed until November. The proposal was originally to have been heard at the Cape Cod Commission’s regulatory meeting on Sept. 16, but Ford had asked for that hearing to be postponed until the Sept. 19 meeting.

“As I understand it, the applicant has requested the continuance with the Wellfleet Zoning Board of Appeals as well, to further research the particular Gaia-Wind 133-11kW model proposed,” said Jonathan D. Idman, chief regulatory officer of the Cape Cod Commission.
