A public informational meeting was held at the American Legion Building in Belle Center regarding a portion of the Scioto Ridge Wind Farm project Wednesday.

The Scioto Ridge Wind Farm is a project that would build around 176 wind turbines that will generate about 300 megawatts of electricity across four townships in Hardin County (Lynn, McDonald, Roundhead, and Taylor Creek) and two townships in Logan County (Richland and Rushcreek). The project will be built on publicly leased land and construction is planned to start by the end of 2014 into 2015.

The energy generated by the wind turbines will go through underground lines to a collection substation. From there the energy will go along a 4.8 mile stretch of overhead lines to a point of interconnection substations. That substation will connect the energy to the East Lima-Marysville 345 kV circuit.

Wednesday’s informational meeting was held for the pre-application process of the overhead transmissions lines and the point of interconnection substation. The wind turbines and the collection substation portion of the project are already in the application process.

The meeting was conducted by Hardin Wind, LCC, which is a subsidiary of EverPower Wind Holding, Inc.
