Malouff found guilty in wind energy fraud case

A Travis County jury took a little more than six hours Wednesday before finding Charles Malouff guilty of falsifying documents to obtain $1.8 million in federal stimulus funds for a Jonestown wind energy operation.
Prosecutors said Malouff used some of the money for trips with his girlfriend, an employee with the Texas comptroller’s office who helped him through the grant process, as well as clothing and motorcycle accessories. They also said he did not disclose his relationship with the woman, Mary Jo Woodall, and exaggerated or falsified claims about the proposed operation.
