Conservatives and UKIP to join forces in Atlantic Array campaign

North Devon Journal | August 22, 2013 | www.thisisnorthdevon.co.uk

The Conservative Party and UKIP are set to join forces in North Devon and fight plans for a massive offshore wind farm in the Bristol Channel.

Tory prospective parliamentary candidate for North Devon Peter Heaton-Jones was today due to stand shoulder to shoulder with UKIP party chairman Steve Crowther and announce his opposition to plans for the Atlantic Array.

Mr Heaton-Jones and Mr Crowther were due to hold a joint press conference in Mortehoe at 1pm today, where they were expected to announce how Mr Heaton-Jones is joining forces with Mr Crowther and the campaign group Slay the Array.

Mr Crowther is a staunch opponent of the plan, which could see up to 240 turbines 220m high sited 15km from the North Devon coast.

The announcement coincides with the imminent deadline by which groups and individuals must register to have their views on the Atlantic Array considered.
