The debate over windmill projects in Alabama is growing. Today a group called No Wind Alabama spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Gadsden about why they say these windmill farms are no good for the community. The organization says there are many reasons to keep these developments out of the state and that it’s not sustainable. The group also has other concerns they’ve posted to their website, www.nowindal.com. Texas based renewable energy company Pioneer Energy Green is developing the Shinbone Wind Energy Center which will have 8 turbines and the Noccalula Wind Energy Center that will have up to 40 turbines. Pioneer Energy Green declined comment on the issue pending a lawsuit that has been filed against the company by a group of property owners nearby the project sites.
