Approximately 22 people have made objections or submissions to a planning application for two wind turbines that are being planned for Dangan, Ballyporeen.
The development is sited approximately one mile from the village (off the Kilbehenny road). The appplication is for the erection of two 660Kw wind turbines with a hub height of 65 metres along with the construction of a 25 sq metre electrical sub station.
Locals claim that while the application is for two 65 metre turbines, the actual height will be 88m. They say they are concerned about the development on a number of fronts but mainly because of its close proximity to a number of dwellings.
The applicant is Mr Denis English and the application was received by South Tipperary County Council on May 30th. A decision on the outcome will be made known on July 24.
