Wind farm would ruin Enfield’s skyline

July 17, 2013 | www.pressconnects.com

I strongly object to ruining Enfield’s gorgeous skyline and beautiful dark skies with the visual pollution of wind generators. The unspoiled views of Buck Hill and Connecticut Hill are treasures that encourage tourism, enhance property value and increase pride in our community.

We may not have a lot of money in Enfield, but we have a wealth of natural beauty that is priceless. During the day the huge blades will become a prominent feature looming over our fields, and at night the red blinking lights will be seen for 5 miles.

Having enjoyed the unspoiled beauty of Buck Hill for 36 years, I mourn for the future generations that will never know how truly beautiful the hills of Enfield once were. I seriously doubt there will be created jobs or reduced utilities for our children, and I truly regret this is the landscape we will leave them.

The public comment period should be extended so Enfield residents who are just discovering the impact the Black Oak Wind Farm will have on their lives are able to voice their opinions and concerns.

Did the project managers investigated solar energy, which has a much less negative environmental and aesthetic impact on a community?
