SPENCERVILLE – Spencerville’s village council unanimously passed a resolution Monday night voicing its opposition to a grid of large wind turbines and transmission lines near the village.
The resolution has no legal authority, but the council “strongly opposes the development and/or construction of wind farms” through Spencerville’s corporate boundaries.
The resolution cites degrading the landscape and possible detriments to public health.
“The peaceful existence of the quality of life the residents of the Village of Spencerville have come to enjoy over the years would be destroyed by the construction of these towers and transmission lines through the village’s corporation limits,” according to the resolution.
BP Wind Energy of North America has been considering building a wind farm in western Allen County.
