Wind farm construction to slow, says academic

A researcher from the Australian National University, in Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory, says the growth in wind farm construction in Australia is likely to slow.
Doctor Will Grant, from the Australian Centre for the Public Awareness of Science, says resentment towards wind energy is wearing down the industry.
He says the change to a Liberal Government and the rising popularity of solar energy could also mean there’ll be fewer wind turbines built in the future.
“Wind farm proposals will have a more difficult landscape to operate in than they did five years ago, and in five years from now it’ll be worse still,” he said.
“The costs that these organisations face, in terms of fighting against planning permission and fighting against the courts and things like that, is going to get up and so they’ll stop going for it, I think.”
