Wind turbine is subject of hot debate at meeting

Tension among the people of Ladock was driven home on Monday night when plans for a controversial new community wind turbine were debated at a public meeting.

The Ladock community remains divided over plans to build the 77-metre turbine on land near New Mills.

The plan is championed by Low Carbon Ladock, a group set up to transition the community in to a greener way of living.

The debate was held at a packed Ladock Village Hall, where more than 50 speakers had the chance to air their views.

The meeting was a means for parish councillors to gather opinions about the turbine, for which plans are due to be submitted to Cornwall Council’s area planning committee on Monday. It is then that the decision on whether the turbine is given approval or not will be decided.
