Smiles all around for many people in Prince Edward County.
Late yesterday, the provinces’ Environmental Review Tribunal rejected the province’s approval of the Ostrander Point wind power project.
While the Tribunal did not believe the industrial wind turbines would cause harm to human beings, or birds, or plants, they did believe the wind farm would cause irreversible damage to the Blandings Turtle.
The appeal against the nine turbine project was led by the Prince Edward County Field Naturalists.
President of the group, Myrna Wood, says they are ecstatic with the decision!
M.P.P Todd Smith says they had a long, hard fight.
It is not known if Gilead Power will try to appeal the Environmental Review Tribunals decision.
