New wind farm proposed for Dodge City area

By Dan Voorhis | The Wichita Eagle | July 1, 2013 | www.kansas.com

A wind farm developer is seeking a conditional use permit from the Ford County Zoning Board for a 180-megawatt-capacity wind farm, the Bloom Wind Power Project, 20 miles south of Dodge City.

According to a news release from the developer, the project would be spread over 11,500 acres and would produce enough power to supply renewable energy to approximately 70,000 homes.

The wind farm would connect to the Kansas V-Plan Transmission line being constructed by ITC Great Plains. That line will connect western Kansas to Wichita and points east.

The project is being developed by Norvento USA, LLC, a subsidiary of Norvento Enerxia of Spain.
