Legislation sponsored by state Sen. John Wozniak that would allow for a wind farm to be built in the Gallitzin State Forest has passed with unanimous support in the Senate State Government Committee.
Senate Bill 684 would allow EverPower Wind Holdings Inc. to construct 20 to 25 wind turbines on land leased from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Wozniak said in a news release. The land was previously a strip mine and currently supports little vegetation or tree growth, he said.
