Leyland mast plan is given go ahead

Lancashire Evening Post | 21 June 2013 | www.lep.co.uk

Plans for a 50m high test wind mast in Leyland have been given the go ahead.

The proposals for the temporary mast at Leyland Wastewater Treatment Works in Emnie Lane, Leyland were approved by South Ribble Council’s planning committee – despite a raft of objections from residents. Scores of residents attended the planning meeting on Wednesday night opposing the plans with many calling it “unacceptable.”

Concerns were also raised that the mast could result in a permanent turbine on the site.

The plans were submitted by United Utilities.

The committee decided to approve the plans and say they were unable to make their decision on whether a turbine plan could be submitted on the back of the test mast and that at the meeting the only decision they could make was based on the planning application submitted to them.
