Plans turned down for more wind turbines in Bradnop

Plans to build two wind turbines near to an existing site at Morridge Top have been thrown out.

Hallmark Ltd submitted plans to build two structures with a total height of 34.2 metres at Lane End Farm, Ashbourne Road, Bradnop, to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s planning committee.

Bradnop Parish Council objected to the plans, as did the Peak District National Park Authority due to “insufficient ecological survey work and the potential impact of the turbines on both ecology and the setting of the National Park”.

Natural England also protested. The Environmental Health Officer objected to the plans “pending further information specific to the site and taking account of the two nearby existing turbines”.

David Weir, the applicant’s agent, spoke at the meeting and said that consultants had been instructed to get the relevant survey work completed and asked the committee if they would be minded to defer the application until all the information was available.

However, the plans were refused by four votes to three.
