Bird-killing machine out of place at sanctuary

Cape Cod Times | June 11, 2013 | www.capecodonline.com

From what I’ve gathered the National Audubon Society strives to implement policies that safeguard birds; according to its website, the society’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is home to several rare and declining breeding birds.

So why in the world is the Audubon proposing to construct a bird-killing machine/wind turbine that stands 12 stories tall in the heart of its “bird sanctuary”? I’m left wondering just how many rare and declining breeding birds, along with bats, the Wellfleet Audubon will tolerate to be sliced and diced by its proposed “micro” size 12-story wind turbine in the name of going “green.”

A bird sanctuary proposing to construct a wind turbine that has been documented as a bird- and bat-killer strikes me as being at the height of hypocrisy.
