Huron Health Unit lacks resources for wind turbine study

Written by Bob Montgomery, Reporter | June 4th, 2013 | blackburnnews.com

One Bluewater councillor was not very happy with the response from the Huron County Health Unit for a study into the potential impact of wind turbines on the health of people living near them.

John Gillespie told council last night the report was about four pages long but essentially stated the Health Unit did not have the resources to do the study.

Gillespie countered that a few hours would have been enough to conduct a literature review using information available from a similar study conducted by Bruce County and the Provincial Medical Officer of Health.

Gillespie also believes the Health Unit failed to fulfill its obligation under the Health Protection and Promotion Act to respond to requests from municipalities like Bluewater.
