Verzet tegen windmolens bij Waddenkust

[Resistance against wind turbines by the Wadden Sea – Nature and landscape organizations have strong objections to provincial government plans for wind turbines overlooking the Wadden Sea, which is a major migratory area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.]

Natuur- en landschapsorganisaties hebben grote bezwaren tegen de plannen van het provinciebestuur om windmolens toe te staan bij de Waddenkust.

De uitbreiding staat gepland in de Emma- en Eemspolder. Volgens de organisaties is dat in strijd met eerder gemaakte afspraken. Het gebied wordt namelijk veel gebruikt door trekvolgens. Ze wijzen er ook op dat de Waddenkust is benoemd tot Werelderfgoed. Als de provincie de plannen doorzet dan stappen de natuur- en milieuorganisaties mogelijk naar de rechter.

Volgens kan er beter op andere locaties worden gebouwd, bijvoorbeeld in de buurt van de stad Groningen. Een meerderheid van de gemeenteraad van Groningen liet onlangs weten bereid te zijn op zoek te gaan naar een windmolenlocatie op het grondgebied van de stad.
