Breaking news: Bute wind farm plans are turned down

Planning permission for the hugely controversial Ascog Farm wind turbine development on Bute’s east coast has been refused.
Argyll and Bute Council’s planning, protective services and licensing (PPSL) committee decided on Wednesday to turn down Adrian Tear’s application for planning permission for three 74-metre turbines on Ascog Hill.
Planning officials had recommended refusal of the plans on the grounds of visual impact, subject to a discretionary hearing, but a council spokesperson told The Buteman that PPSL members had instead decided to refuse permission without recourse to a further meeting.
