Thorpe Salvin wind turbine objection

Guardian | 16 May 2013 | www.dinningtontoday.co.uk

Thorpe Salvin Parish Council has written to object to any future proposals to build a wind turbine in the village.

They have commissioned a planning consultant who has written a report assessing the potential impact a turbine would have on the area.

It comes after renewable energy company Livos Energy Ltd submitted a screening opinion to Rotherham Council relating to the siting of a wind turbine.

The submission is a scoping exercise to assess the viability and environmental impact of a turbine.

The 98m high turbine would be situated off Slaypit Lane in the village – between Loscar Wood and Little Wood.

It would be half the distance from Thorpe Salvin as the existing wind farm at Loscar Common near Harthill.

Parish Council chairman John Cox said the consultant’s report had been sent to Rotherham Council and Livos as a ‘pre-emptive strike’ to any future planning application, and that the parish council would keep villagers informed of progress.

Livos declined to comment, saying it would be ‘inappropriate’ because no formal planning application had yet been submitted.
