HILDEN – The next round of open houses relating to wind farm projects in Truro Heights and Milbrook are slated for Monday and Tuesday.

“We are approaching a milestone in the development of our wind projects at Truro Heights and Millbrook with the completion of the environmental assessment,” Keith Towse, CEO of Community Wind Farms Inc., said in a news release.

The environmental assessments report is published on the following websites: www.truroheightswindfarm.ca and www.millbrookwindfarm.ca .

The first open house information session is set for Monday, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Glooscap Heritage Centre with a second one planned for the following evening at the Hilden Fire Hall, also from 6 to 9 p.m.

Participants will have an opportunity to review maps and information about the projects in more detail and to also chat with some of the experts responsible for the studies and the development of the project.

“We will also be soon establishing the Community Liaison Committee for each project, inviting local residents to work with us to ensure that any questions or concerns can be quickly addressed,” Towse said.

The committees are to meet regularly during the remainder of the development period, more frequently during construction activities and continually throughout the life of the project. The committee will also administer the Community Sustainability Fund, which will receive one per cent of the revenue from the projects when they are operating.

Towse said that fund is expected to receive about $15,000 per year for the Truro Heights wind farm and $22,000 per year for the Millbrook venture.
