North Perth endorses livestock wind turbine concerns letter

Those fighting to stop a proposed wind turbine project in the North Perth area are keeping the pressure on.

The latest in a string of presentations to Council was made by a local Dairy Farmer.

Steve Dolson claims the vibrant livestock industry and related support businesses could be at risk.

Dolson explains no one seems to know what the impact of a large wind development on livestock will be and does not want the area to be a test case.

He contends some urban politicians do not understand rural Ontario so it is important to send a clear message about the prime agricultural land and vibrant local livestock industry involved.

North Perth Council is endorsing a letter from Dolson to the Premier and other Provincial authorities urging special consideration of the unique area.

Invenergy Canada is proposing a 26 wind turbine project called the “Conestogo Wind Energy Centre” involving properties in the municipality and neighbouring Perth East.

At least publicly, supporters have not been nearly as vocal as opponents.
