Mass walk against ‘wind farm’ proposal

MP for Buckingham John Bercow will be joining residents of Mursley and the surrounding villages in a mass walk against a proposed wind farm in Mursley parish tomorrow, Saturday.

In March this year, plans by Force 9 Energy to put a wind farm at Dorcas Lane, near Stoke Hammond, were refused planning permission by AVDC.

Now North Bucks Wind Energy Limited – a subsidiary of West Coast Energy – has filed a planning application to retain a 10m-high meteorological mast and erect a new 80m-high mast at Cowpasture Farm off Drayton Road, in Mursley parish.

Residents’ campaign group Stop Salden Turbines says this is the first step in the construction of four 125m-high industrial-scale wind turbines on the site.

Mr Bercow is the group’s president.

The mass walk to the proposed site of the turbines at Salden leaves Greanacre Hall, in Drayton Parslow at 10.15am.

The historic village of Salden was the site of Salden House, home to Queen Elizabeth I’s chancellor Sir John Fortescue.

Opponents of the scheme say it is a haven for wildlife in an area of considerable natural beauty used by walkers, horse riders and ornithologists.
