Residents and community groups are uniting to fight the latest bid to bring a wind farm to the Buckinghamshire countryside.

After campaigners won their bid to stop turbines near Stoke Hammond earlier this year, another scheme has led to another set of villagers to mount a battle plan.

Vale MP and House of Commons Speaker, John Bercow, will be joining concerned residents for a mass walk to the proposed site of the turbines at Salden.

The campaign to fight the turbines is being led by the Stop Salden Turbines Committee, of which Mr Bercow is president.

The walk leaves from Greenacre Hall, Drayton Parslow at 10.30am on Saturday.

North Bucks Wind Energy has permission to erect an anemometer mast on land at Salden, between the villages of Mursley, Drayton Parslow and Newton Longville.

It’s the first step in the construction of four 125 metre (413 ft) industrial scale wind turbines on the site.

Residents’ spokeman Giles Peppiatt said: “This is another proposed defacement of our beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.

“The historic village of Salden was the site of Salden House, home to Queen Elizabeth I’s chancellor Sir John Fortescue. This haven for wildlife is situated in an area of considerable natural beauty and is utilised by walkers, horse-riders, ornithologists and those involved in all countryside pursuits.”
