Tehachapi line not just wind power

The Tehachapi wind power project will not only transmit green energy but conventional energy as well.

The news came as a surprise to all five Chino Hills city council members when they were asked by the Champion if they were aware of the project’s dual purpose.

The information was received during a Champion interview with four Edison officials who are informing the community about the potential impacts of the proposed transition stations.

After discussions about renewable energy, changing technology and the future need for the project, spokesman Paul Klein said the lines will also carry conventional energy.

When asked to elaborate, director of local public affairs Kit Cole responded with the following email statement: “TRTP was designed to deliver renewable energy, but under interconnection rules established by federal and state regulators, other non-renewable generators can also connect to TRTP.”

Hope for the Hills President Bob Goodwin was as surprised as the council. Mr. Goodwin said conventional energy has never been discussed
