Special Report: Is going green damaging local lives?

Green energy has become a priority across our nation, offering people a way to lessen their carbon footprint. So what could be bad about that?
On Monday night, NEWS CENTER’s Taryn Kane will have a special report with people who say “going green” is damaging their health.
You’ll meet people from New York and Massachusetts, living just 120 miles apart, but claiming to have similar health issues they attribute to giant wind turbines in their backyards.
“It sounds just like a prop jet outside the house,” says Keith Dillenbeck, a dairy farmer in Herkimer County. He says wind energy is not only affecting his health, but the health of his animals as well.
“I never had this happen before until they erected the windmills,” says Dillenbeck.
Just to the east of the Hardscrabble Wind Power Project in New York, is the Hoosac Wind Power Project in Berkshire County, Mass. Residents there tell a similar story.
“It’s a constant ringing and buzzing in the ears and I am headachy in the back of the scruff of my neck,” says Larry Fairneny, who lives near the Hoosac Wind Power Project. “It feels like my brain is vibrating.”
You’ll also hear from Massachusett’s Assistant Secretary for Energy, Steven Clarke.
“We’re very interested and supportive of bolstering our clean energy sector, but not at the expense of public health and safety,” says Clarke.
