A Radnorshire conservation group, which has been refused permission for a judicial review into a wind farm’s consent, has vowed to keep on fighting.

Justice Kenneth Parker refused Stonewall Hill Conservation Group (SHCG) permission for a judical review of Herefordshire Council’s consent to the Reeves Hill Wind Farm.

The decision, made at the Bristol Civil Justice Centre, reaffirmed Judge Bidder QC’s earlier refusal in August 2012.

A spokesman for SHCG said: “This refusal simply reflects the constraints of the judicial review process and does not make the council’s decision to issue consent any less objectionable.

“The arguments produced by both sides… had to rely mainly on the council’s own carefully and defensively drafted officer’s report to the planning committee on September 14, 2011.

“Unlike Powys Council, who broadcast their proceedings on the web, Herefordshire Council make no full record of what is said at their meetings and do not allow the public to do so either. This undemocratic control of information proved to be a significant factor at the hearing.”

The statement continued: “We will continue to fight for the rights of the people of Norton, Knighton, Presteigne and all the other border villages. There are many more hurdles… to go through, and we intend to stop this terrible, wasteful industrialisation of this beautiful area.”
