An MSP has urged the First Minister to listen to
windfarm fears.

Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has pressed Alex Salmond and Energy Minister Fergus
Ewing to heed the
collective concerns of 4,500 people who have signed Rhona Weir’s
petition against the
unsuitable placement of wind turbines.

Mrs Weir presented Alex Salmond with the petition in Edinburgh this week after being denied the chance to do so at the SNP party
conference in Inverness.

Information unearthed by Murdo Fraser earlier in the year showed a record 44,000 people had objected to wind turbines across Scotland since 2008.

Mr Fraser said: “Alex Salmond and Fergus Ewing must listen to the views of ordinary Scots, who are telling the First Minister, in the most vocal of tones, that they do not want expensive
wind turbines blotting
Scotland’s landscape.

“This petition outlines the fears communities have all over Scotland.

“People do not want to see their treasured
countryside plastered with wind turbines, which aren’t even an efficient producer of energy.

“Energy bills are soaring across the country and wind farm subsidies are placing Scots into fuel poverty.

“The Scottish
Government must
reconsider their current stance on unsuitably- placed wind turbines or feel the full force of a
disgruntled electorate.”
