Enniskillen: unwilling host

Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey and a local contingent of municipal leaders and residents travelled to Queen’s Park on Thursday.

The group was supporting a Tory bill called the “Ensuring Affordable Energy Act”, that would have given municipalities some control over wind projects coming to their area.

However, it was defeated by the Liberals and New Democrats, by a vote of 40 to 33.

Bailey says there is not a lot of understanding for issues in rural Ontario.

Enniskillen Mayor Kevin Marriott was at Queen’s Park with the group.

This week, his council passed a motion declaring that wind turbines are not welcome.

He hopes this will be at least a small road block for wind companies eyeing Enniskillen township.
