A new political party has been launched to campaign on energy prices and wind farm developments.

The Alliance Party of Scotland accuses the Scottish and UK governments of having energy policies that “cause misery” for thousands of households.

It said it would campaign against high energy bills, fuel poverty and wind farms that threaten world-renowned Scottish landscapes.

The new party was unveiled at a launch event in Inverness.

The launch came on the same day of the Scottish Highland Renewable Energy Conference 2013 in the city.

Energy Minister Fergus Ewing told the event that Scotland was achieving targets set for electricity generation by community-owned renewable projects.
