Villagers see red as plan is announced

A flashing red light on the horizon at Holbeach St Marks raised the alert that the village is being explored as a location for a wind farm.

The proposed site lies about 8km north of Holbeach and would comprise up to 12 turbines with a maximum height to blade tip of 130.5m.

A scoping report describing the draft proposals was submitted to South Holland District Council in July last year.

Nick Worth, district council deputy leader, said: “I’d look straight at it so it’s something I wouldn’t want and I’ve heard others say the same.

“The flashing red light on the wind mast was the first we knew of it.

“It’s important now villagers make their feelings known.”
