Developers of the proposed K-4 Wind Farm have a July deadline to keep the project alive, the Iroquois County Board was told Tuesday,
Board Chairman Rod Copas said he and Joel Moore, the county highway engineer, and their counterparts in Kankakee County met recently with Turner Hunt, president of Cincinnati-based Vision Energy, which announced the 390-turbine wind farm plan in late 2009 for parts of Kankakee, Iroquois, Ford and Livingston counties.
Copas said that according to Hunt said, Vision Energy has to accomplish one of three things by the first part of July or the project won’t go forward:
• Find a buyer for the electricity;
• Sell the company; or
• Find a bank that is willing to take the risk to carry the project forward.
