A group opposing the Canadian Auto Workers wind turbine in Port Elgin is calling on the union to admit their wind turbine is harming human health.

Saugeen Turbine Operation Policy, or “STOP”, spokesperson Greg Schmalz says a dozen families have come forward complaining of health impacts since the CAW wind turbine became operational two weeks ago.

He says many are complaining of headaches and sleep deprivation, adding one family was bothered enough that they filed a formal noise complaint with Saugeen Shores Police.

Schmalz says STOP has hired three acoustical engineering firms to monitor sound levels around the turbine as they gather evidence towards a possible legal fight with the CAW
