Plans are in place to develop a 25 megawatt wind energy site on land to the east of Llechwedd quarry.

At last week’s meeting of Ffestiniog Town Council representatives of Cwmni Moelwynt, gave a brief address to outline their plans.

Huw Smallwood explained that Tegni was the company responsible for the wind turbines at Llangwm and a community project at Bedlinog.

It was further explained that the plan could be a financially viable one, allowing the company to project existing employment opportunities.

The company stated that the site in mind has been chosen to minimise visual impact due to the natural bowl where the turbines would be sited.

It was made clear that the project is in its very early stages, and during the next few months they will be looking to consulting widely with the community.
