CAPE VINCENT – Despite BP’s plan to sell off all of its wind assets in the U.S., the developer does not intend to halt the state Article X siting process for the proposed Cape Vincent Wind Farm, according to a BP spokesperson.

“Yes, the Cape Vincent Wind Project is still moving forward with the Article X process as planned,” BP Wind Energy spokeswoman Amanda J. Abbott said Wednesday in an email to the Times.

Cape Vincent Wind Power LLC recently submitted its preliminary scoping statement to the state Public Service Commission and could file an application for the proposed 124-turbine project as soon as the end of June.

According to the company’s website, BP Wind Energy has interests in 13 wind farms in seven states. An additional two are under construction, and there are several proposed projects – like Cape Vincent Wind – that are in various stages of development.
