FAIRHAVEN – Election night in Fairhaven saw challengers in the boards of health and selectmen win over multi-term incumbents.
Incumbent selectman Brian Bowcock lost to Geoffrey Haworth by 356 votes. The Board of Health race was much closer, with incumbent Peter DeTerra losing to newcomer John Wethington by just three votes. Soon after votes were tallied tonight, DeTerra vowed he would ask for a recount.
In other contested races, Stasia Powers and Bernie Roderiques each won another term on the School Committee, beating special needs advocate Diane Hahn.
Kathy Melanson, owner of Emma Jean’s, lost her bid for a one year seat on the Planning Board by just 10 votes to property manager John Farrell, who is currently an appointed member of the board.
