Turbine neighbors in Scituate to hold speaker event

The Patriot Ledger | March 22, 2013 | www.patriotledger.com

The Scituate residents who say the wind turbine is affecting their health will hold an education and advocacy event Saturday at the Scituate Country Club.

The event, to run from 2 to 4 p.m., will feature guests speakers, including an acoustical engineer and a doctor who will talk about the noise and health impact of wind turbines.

Also scheduled to speak is Mark McKeever, who lives 640 feet from the turbine off the Driftway. McKeever says the shadow flicker has destroyed his family’s quality of life.

The event is open to the public. Organizers are asking residents who don’t live near the turbine to attend to learn more about health issues related to turbines.

A citizen petition requesting that the turbine be shut down will be up for a vote April 9 at Scituate’s annual town meeting. The result of the vote is non-binding.
