52 people object to Bolster Moor wind turbine plan

Huddersfield Daily Examiner | Mar 19 2013 | www.examiner.co.uk

More than 50 people have objected to plans for two wind turbines at Bolster Moor.

An M Sykes, has applied for consent for two Evance 5kw wind turbines at 14, Drummer Lane, Bolster Moor.

Kirklees planning officers have recommended approval, but it will be considered by the Huddersfield Planning Committee this week due to the large number of objectors.

The planning report says: “This development is for the erection of two 5kw wind turbines on 18-metre high masts within the Green Belt.

“The proposal is inappropriate development in the Green Belt. However, its contribution to national and local renewable energy targets is considered to constitute very special circumstances which outweigh the harm caused.”

But 52 people do not agree – points against include the impact on the landscape, inappropriate development in a village setting and out of scale with surrounding development and potential danger from flying ice from blades. Others worried it would set a precedent.

Two people wrote in support of the plan.

Councillors will consider the application at the meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall at 1pm on Thursday.
