Blow for Midlothian wood

Credit:  Midlothian Advertiser | 13 March 2013 | www.midlothianadvertiser.co.uk ~~

A wood with around 20,000 young trees will be sacrificed if plans for a Midlothian wind farm are approved.

The Advertiser has learned that Wind Prospect wants to fell 7.8 hectares at Cockmuir to provide better wind conditions for its project at Mount Lothian.

The developer believes that the Toxside Plantation, if allowed to remain, will create turbulence for the nine 102-metre turbines and make them less effective.
