Damage is done; Mulder attack over wind farm roads

AGL Energy has denied there was a lack of roads planning prior to the Macarthur wind farm development, in response to criticism from Victorian Transport Minister, Terry Mulder.

Shadow roads minister, Luke Donnellan said Mr Mulder’s criticism of Labor’s transport planning was questionable, given the current state of the roads.

Mr Mulder has claimed that a critical shortage of planning by the previous State Government caused severe damage to roads at Macarthur.

At an address to the Rural Press Club in Melbourne, Mr Mulder blamed Labor’s planning for the damage caused by wind farm trucks.

“(The Government will) work with VicRoads and the Department of Planning and Community Development to get some better outcomes,” he said.

“(We need) better input from the proponents of those particular projects so they don’t have the impact on the road network, particularly the Macarthur wind farm in south west Victoria.

“(Macarthur is a) good case for all of us because it has been a disaster for our road network.”

The Hamilton Spectator asked Mr Mulder to expand on his comments after the address.
