Falmouth officials requesting state assistance to fund removal of turbines

During the Falmouth Board of Selectmen’s March 4 meeting, Town Manager Julian Suso reported discussions continue between town and state officials on whether the state would help fund removal of the town’s two wind turbines.

Selectmen are hoping to draft a final warrant article by March 11 that would call for removal of the turbines located at the Falmouth Wastewater Treatment Facility, and they want to know how much money the state will provide to help the town do so – if voters approve removing the turbines.

“We did emphasize the very tight schedule with regards to the upcoming annual and special town meetings. We were advised they will take the matter under review and will get back to us. They made no firm commitment regarding any specific items, nor did they make any firm commitment on a precise response time,” Suso said. “That process continues to unfold, and we continue to stay in touch with those representatives and answer questions as they arise.”
