More hot air over wind

Yesterday’s Scare of the Day press release from the Obama administration came courtesy of the U.S. Interior Department (and yes, they are beginning to scrape the bottom of the horror-story barrel now).
In it Secretary Ken Salazar warned, “The potentially devastating impact of budget reductions under sequestration could slow our economy and hurt energy sector workers and businesses.”
In fact, he said, speaking at a Boston conference, sequestration could delay the department’s ability to approve new offshore wind energy projects. Oh, no, not that!
Now sad to say he also mentioned Cape Wind – the boondoggle that will both destroy views in Nantucket Sound and send energy bills soaring – but in the context of an already approved “construction and operations plan.” Too bad. Its delay would give us one more reason to not fear the mighty winds of sequestration.
However, he did mention other possible leases off the Massachusetts coast that could get hung up in what he called “a pivotal year.” We tremble at the thought.
Is it any wonder why taxpayers think all this White House sequestration hype is a joke?
