Windfarm delivery lorry gets stuck

Morpeth Herald | 14 February 2013 | www.morpethherald.co.uk

More disruption has been caused to villagers after a windfarm delivery lorry got stuck.

The vehicle was delivering turbine parts for the Wingates Windfarm on Monday when it got stuck for more than an hour between Southward Edge and the village, at a point known as Fiddlers Elbow.

It is close to where a crane for the windfarm came off the road in December.

Resident John Thompson said: “These deliveries do cause major disruption.

“We are never quite sure when a convoy is going to come through and on Monday my wife got caught coming from Morpeth.

“Most of the lorries go through so you have to decide do you sit behind it and have a slower run, or do you go around and take a four-mile detour?

“In this case my wife was behind it for 65 minutes.”

Mr Thompson said the road has been widened, but even when lorries can get through it is causing delays and potholes.
