Residents make bid to join wind farm fight

ABC News | 14 February 2013 | www.abc.net.au

Several mid-north South Australian residents have applied to the Environment, Resources and Development Court to join court action against a proposed wind farm near Burra.

Energy Australia’s proposal was the first, under new state wind farm planning reforms, to be rejected at the council level by the Goyder Council’s development assessment panel.

The four applicants argued they would be directly affected by the 41-turbine wind farm and therefore had a right to be heard.

They hold concerns over the wind farm’s noise and possible impacts on communications and health.

The court’s senior judge, Susanne Cole, reserved her decision yesterday.
