Plans to build two 325ft (100m) wind turbines in a farmer’s field in South Devon have been turned down.

The scheme, at Luscombe Cross, between Totnes and Harbertonford, were rejected by South Hams District Council today.

Councillors voted by 16 to 3 against the application by the Totnes Renewable Energy Society (TRESOC) with 4 abstentions.

It was rejected because of the “sustained and unacceptable harm to the landscape, the visual impact and effects on the historic environment”.

Protestors who gathered outside the meeting said “common sense had prevailed.”
